15g protein | 3g fibre | PMOS-friendly snack | No-bake

If you’re looking for a protein-rich snack that feels like a treat, these chocolate chip cookie dough protein balls are one to add to your rotation.

They’re incredibly simple to make using a handful of store cupboard ingredients and are perfect for batch prepping at the start of the week. With 15g of protein and 3g of fibre per serving, alongside healthy fats from the tahini and almond flour, they make a satisfying snack option when you need something to keep you going between meals.

Why I love these protein balls

They’re packed with protein and PMOS-friendly.

Each serving provides around 15g of protein, thanks to the combination of vanilla protein powder, almond flour, tahini and soya milk.

Protein is an important part of a satisfying snack, helping you feel fuller for longer and making it easier to meet your overall protein requirements throughout the day.

They also contain fibre and healthy fats.

The almond flour and tahini provide fibre and unsaturated fats, while the dark chocolate drops add a little sweetness and make these taste much more like cookie dough than a “healthy” snack!

And if you're focusing on blood sugar balance, pairing carbohydrates with protein, fibre and healthy fats can help to make a snack more satisfying and balanced.

The secret ingredient…

I love adding a little almond extract to these.

It’s completely optional, but it gives the protein balls a delicious almondy flavour that reminds me of marzipan. Just a small amount makes a big difference!

Make them ahead

These are ideal for batch preparation.

Make a big batch at the beginning of the week and keep them in the fridge so you have an easy snack ready to go whenever you need it.

You can eat them straight away, or pop them in the fridge for around 15 minutes to firm them up.

  • 100g almond flour

  • A pinch of sea salt

  • 100g smooth tahini

  • 55g maple syrup

  • ½ tsp almond extract, optional

  • 140ml soya milk

  • 75g dark chocolate drops

Method

1. Mix the dry ingredients

Add the protein powder, almond flour and sea salt to a large bowl and whisk together.

2. Add the wet ingredients

Add the tahini, maple syrup, almond extract and soya milk. Stir with a spatula until everything is thoroughly combined and the mixture starts to hold together.

If the mixture feels too dry, add another splash of soya milk until you reach a cookie dough-like consistency.

3. Add the chocolate

Fold through the dark chocolate drops until evenly distributed.

4. Roll into balls

Use a cookie scoop or your hands to divide the mixture and roll into balls.

5. Chill and enjoy

You can enjoy them straight away, or refrigerate for around 15 minutes to firm them up.

Store in an airtight container in the fridge and enjoy throughout the week.

A simple snack to keep in the fridge

I love recipes like this because healthy eating doesn't need to mean complicated recipes or hours spent in the kitchen!
