A nourishing, blood-sugar-friendly snack for pre-conception, pregnancy & beyond.

If you’re looking for a quick, satisfying snack that won’t spike your blood sugar, these date-free keto cacao energy balls are a delicious option to have on hand.

Many energy balls rely heavily on dates, which can be problematic if you’re trying to support balanced blood sugar levels - particularly when trying to conceive or during pregnancy.

These little bites skip the dates but still deliver on flavour, nourishment, and satiety.

They’re rich in healthy fats, fibre, and plant-based protein, helping to keep you fuller for longer while supporting hormone balance and sustained energy.

Why you’ll love these

  • No dates or refined sugars (just a little maple syrup)

  • Supports stable blood sugar

  • Rich in fibre & healthy fats

  • Easy to prep and perfect for busy weeks

  • Suitable for preconception and pregnancy

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp raw cacao powderI use Aduna Super-Cacao - a beautiful single-origin cacao rich in antioxidantsShop here using code JENWAL10 for 10% off

  • 150g almond butter

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup (adjust according to how much you like)

  • 130g ground almonds

  • 2 tbsp ground flaxseed I use Linwoods with code JENWAL15 to save 15%

Method

  1. Place all ingredients into a bowl or food processor.

  2. Mix well or blend until fully combined.

  3. Roll into bite-sized balls.

  4. Store in an airtight container and enjoy throughout the week.

Nutrition Notes

  • Almonds & almond butter provide magnesium, vitamin E, and healthy fats to support hormone health.

  • Flaxseed is rich in fibre and lignans, which can be helpful for hormone balance.

  • Raw cacao offers antioxidants and minerals such as iron and magnesium - great for energy and mood support.

  • Maple syrup is used sparingly to add just enough sweetness without overwhelming blood sugar levels.

Storage

These energy balls will keep for up to 5 days when stored in an airtight container (or slightly longer in the fridge).

If you’re navigating fertility, pregnancy, or simply want nourishing snacks that work with your body rather than against it, these are a lovely staple to add into your routine 🤍
